Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
‘At St Nicholas Church in Wales Primary School, our aim is to enable every individual to reach their potential whilst growing together as part of a whole community’
We recognise that many pupils will have additional needs at some time during their school life, and we believe in identifying and supporting these needs as early as possible in collaboration with parents, pupils, staff and where required outside agency professionals.
In implementing our additional learning needs policy, we strive for pupils to overcome their difficulties within a supportive and sensitive environment.
All staff are committed to ensuring that the needs of all pupils are met so that each child as far as is possible reaches their full potential. Whilst there is often the need to call on the advice of outside agency staff and professionals, pupils are supported whenever possible within the classroom environment through a carefully planned and differentiated curriculum.
We offer a wide range of interventions to support the wide and varied learning needs of the pupils in our care and these are implemented by our highly trained support staff.
Whilst many factors contribute to the range of difficulties experienced by some children, we believe that much can be done to overcome them by parents, teachers and pupils working together.
